Podikizhi

Podikizhi also belongs to the heat treatments. Podi means “powder” and kizhi “bag”. Depending on the patient’s constitution or symptoms, selected herbal powders are bound in cloths and heated either by steam, in a water bath or in herbal oil.

Afterwards the whole body or selected areas that have been oiled beforehand are massaged with these warm herbal powder stamps. This is usually done synchronously by two therapists. The duration of the treatment is between 45 and 60 minutes.

Podikizhi is used to treat pain, circulatory problems and obesity. It strengthens the tissues and muscles and gives the skin a naturally healthy glow.
